Valgrays Border Collie & Animal Rescue
The specialist rescue and re-homing of Border Collie Dogs.
What does your charity/project do?
Valgray's is a small, specialist and dedicated Charity which is
dedicated to finding suitable new homes for Border Collies.
The border Collie is primarily a working dog and has very special
needs in order to become a stable and loving member of a family.
Kept in the right home, Border Collies are loving, lovable and affectionate
animals.
Kept in the wrong environment they can become bored, destructive
and sometimes unpredictable.
Valgray's will only place Border Collies in suitable homes
NEW DOGS 2011
DOG POUNDS
FACT
If dogs are not claimed in 7 days
and cannot
get rescue space
they will be PUT TO SLEEP
I have seen behind closed doors, I have cried over so many dogs,
I have seen so many dogs PTS
So many dogs in the pounds - so many unclaimed - if ONLY they were chipped -
they may have had a chance to be reunited with the owners...
We are a small charity but the work we do is just as important to the unwanted dogs of today.
Our funds are short, we need urgent support, most of the dogs
all need medical attention, how about donating some much needed funds to help us
support and take care of these unwanted strays please....these will not be the last....it is never ending
....PLEASE REMEMBER ........if you have a dog get it chipped....if you move change the details
to your new home....change your phone numbers get it logged....try to safe guard your dog....it only has you to do this....the dog pounds
are full and when the 7 days are up if they dont find rescue spaces -
THEY WILL BE DESTROYED....and that could be your pet you have loved and will never see again...get it Chipped....

Rescue dogs aren't broken.
They've simply experienced more life than other dogs.
If they were human, we would call them wise.
They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write.
They are the ones who have been dealt a bad hand but who have responded with courage.
Do not pity a rescue dog.
Adopt one.
And be proud to have their greatness by your side.

BERNIE

Bernard is a 16 month old Border Collie, fun and lovely natured but over boisterous with the family's small dogs .
He would be better on his own or with a dog his own size. He is however really lovely with other dogs, just very playful.
He is good with cats and has lived with them and children without any problems whatsoever.
Bernard loves his walks but due to work commitments and health problems the owners can not give him the time he needs.

MAX
Max is 11mths old, castrated, chipped and vaccinated. He is a very friendly boy and loves other dogs, people, children etc etc. We have been told he chases cats, and having seen him take off after a squirrel I can believe it!
He has basic training with good recall but he does need some work on the lead. he doesnt have a nasty bone in his body and life is all about bouncing and fun!
With some finishing work he will be a super little dog.

SPOT
HOMED

This is dear Spot, an appeal went out for him to find rescue space - so we agreed and Jenny and Ian our friends have fostered him....
We have an update on his history from the dog warden.
He was collected from a vets near to the one who neutered him.
He was microchipped and the dog warden got in touch with his original owners who have said that they don't want him back.
We are told that apparently Spot's home was not very nice and that he may have been quite harshly disciplined.
He is a lovely little boy who wants to find his forever home where he can be loved and show lots of love to his new owners.
He has only been in the foster home a few days but he is one of the most loyal dogs they say that they have ever known.
Spot is around 2 years old. with a fabulous nature - so would suit a loving caring forever pet home. Spot was an only dog but
he now enjoys other dogs company so much and has made lots of doggie friends.
Update...3rd ~Jan...Spot at the moment has tummy troubles and until we find out what is wrong - we are delaying the progress of
homing him....

2 SUPERB DOGS NEEDING HOMES DUE TO
PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES.
The beautiful Black and White boy is now reserved.

We have been asked to help find superb homes for the above 2 collies...it is with such heavy heart the owner has to home them due to personal circumstances....
They are now back with their breeder who will look after them until a suitable home can be found.
The small merle girl, very bidable, settles well crated, and likes to play. She is 9 years old, but you would not believe it.
She loves to be cuddled, and has settled in with the breeders dogs without problems.
She has a nice nature and is fine with other dogs.
This little girl, is vaccinated, chipped and spayed - she is very obedient and has a great recall..........she does have a couple of little "quirky" things but nothing serious.
***********************************
RESERVED
The Black and White boy is nearly 6 years old.
. He is toy motivated and seems again very friendly with both people and other dogs.
This dog is an agility dog and he has won out of grade 3, but I don't think the owner had done much with him at all last season.
He is fit, and active and would make someone a ready made agility prospect.
This lovely lad is vaccinated, chipped and castrasted - he is also very obedient and loves his toys.
All enquiries will be forwarded over to the breeder and she will make her decision as to the home which will suit them best.
Homes check's will take place and references will also be required.

WEI BILLY
Homed
This is Wei Wei - he is a 14 week old Whippet/Lurcher type pup, found as a stray in an appalling condition. This little pup had to stay in holding kennels for the legal 7 days - but sadly no one claimed him, his
condition in the kennels deteriorated and the dog warden contacted Valgrays to see if we had space as we have in the past helped other strays....of course we said yes immediately....unfortunately for many strays
after 7 days if they do not get claimed or rescue space is not found these poor dogs do get put to sleep....that is fact.......anyway
unknown to us we had no idea that he was in such a bad state - but the morning he arrived our heart sunk - this little bundle of bones arrived with us on Tuesday
23rd August in a terrible state, he was emaciated, dehydrated, weak and had no will to live, he was also very cold, he was put under a heat lamp and had a nice fleece coat put on, we knew that this pup needed
urgent medical attention, we phoned our vet immediately and told him we needed to bring down a very sick puppy, we arrived at the vets with Wei Wei, when we arrived the vet
was horrified at his condition - weighed in at 7kgs (just bones) running alive with fleas, and he was put onto a drip where he stayed for the some hours.....
Urgent funding for dogs like Wei Wei is so important to get them back to health, veterinary care is very expensive so if you feel
you would like to help and support Wei Wei - Valgrays would be so grateful.
Updates will follow with his progress and we are keeping our fingers crossed that he makes a good recovery...for the time being he is having the best care possible and he even had a cuddly teddy sent him in the post today,
so thank you to the person who sent this - this poor little pup needs our help, he did not ask to be born - he did not ask to be dumped
How could we deprive this poor young dog a chance of life.... he's just a baby and has the rest of his life ahead of him, he could be dead by now.... along with many other helpless dogs......
Wei Wei . deserves every chance of a long/happy life with a caring family...we need to get him better his future is in our hands.
Thank you
Update on Wei Wei: He is doing very well and has gained weight - 12kgs - he is still a little nervy but he has made a wonderful recovery. I would like to thank you all so much for your kind
donations and gifts that you all have sent and your lovely messages. I have recently had a 2 week break and Wei Wei went to my friends for a holiday and yes they fell in love with him and have
asked to adopt him......so Wei Wei who is now named Billy has got his forever home......

Banned dogs are often advertised with other names - see this site for the common variations): ADVICE ON BUYING A DOG HERE
PS: Please NEVER buy a puppy from a pet shop .. they are almost certainly obtained from the horrors of a 'puppy farm' .. see puppy farm link here: ANTI PUPPY FARM WEBSITE
